Over the past ten days we have been away in Northern Ireland, hence the lack of posts! I have not been over there for four years. Four years! How did that happen?!
Gary went over a few times with the little ones, but we didn’t feel Charlotte was well enough to leave at home. What with her health and Covid, four years has passed.
It was like coming home.
We stayed in a converted hay barn, and whilst it was only the four of us (Gary, me and the two younger girls), Lillie and Thomas joined us for a couple of days as well.
I love Northern Ireland.
The Hay Barn is right out in the country side so I was able to enjoy long walks down country lanes. In fact it was here I saw the Silver Fox. We visited family, caught up with precious friends and wandered along sandy beaches.
I spent hours writing and painting and reading. Seriously, does life get any better than that?
On the down side, I came back home having put on the seven pounds I lost in April.
I am gutted.
Whilst I didn’t keep tabs on my eating in terms of calories, I certainly didn’t feel like I over ate substantially. And I walked every day, although probably not for as long as I usually do, and I obviously didn’t go to the gym.
Still, to say I was disappointed is an understatement.
I worked so hard to lose it, and yet it came back on in just one week!
This weight thing is going to be my lifetime battle.
I talked to my son about it, expressing my frustration and he was brilliant.
Apparently it shouldn’t be as hard to lose this seven pounds, and certainly shouldn’t take me a whole month. He said it wouldn’t surprise him if I lost it over the next week or so.
I sure hope so.
I desperately don’t want this to be the end of my health journey.
Anyway, next week I shall be going back to normal postings of my own journal entries each morning. Have a wonderful weekend xxx

What a lovely encouragement from your son, and I am sure that as you have already made such progress over the past many months, you will be able to do it again 😊

I think your son is right. I typically gain anywhere from 5-10 pounds whenever we go on vacation and usually it only takes a matter of 1-2 weeks and being back home to shed those pounds (sometimes literally just a few days even!). I hope the same happens for you because it is rather depressing when something that has taken months or even a year feels like it is all undone in just a week. Just go back to your healthy habits and know that each step in the right direction is a win!

Thanks Joanne, it is already starting come back off again, and I seem to have slipped back to healthy habits really easily. I think I was more scared that I would just go back to my old ways, but that doesn’t seem to have happened.
